Australian Athletics (AA) is the governing body for Athletics in this country. It is a National Sporting Organisation whose major partner is the Australian Sports Commission. AA is responsible for all athletics activity, including high performance, participation, coaching, officiating, juniors, para-athletics, domestic and international competition. Athletics Australia has a critical role in leading, fostering and encouraging participation in athletics in Australia and promoting excellence in performance.
Heading towards the 2032 Brisbane Olympics & Paralympics, it is an exciting time to join our High Performance (HP) Team, we are currently seeking to recruit a Performance Support Manager.
About the Role
As Performance Support Manager, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of AA by ensuring our athletes receive world-class support in their journey to success. Your leadership will drive strategic planning, interdisciplinary collaboration, and innovative performance solutions to help athletes perform at their best when it counts the most.
Your core duties will include:
- Lead the strategy of Performance Support services across domestic and international performance environments, aligning with the High Performance Strategy.
- Lead the National Performance Support Leads in the successful implementation of the AA High Performance strategy, fostering engagement and supporting interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Supporting AA and our partners, in keeping pace with the latest Performance Health and Sports Science reseach findins, knowledge, and expertise.
- Leading a culture of collaboration and facilitate behavious and systems that create connection and engagement between AA Performance Support Leads, State Performance Advisors, National Event Group Panels and AA High Performance staff.
What we are looking for:
We are seeking strategic, empathetic, and forward-thinking leader who understands the unique challenges and opportunities within high-performance sport. Who has a broad understanding of aspects of technical performance solutions (coaching, science, medicine, technology).
Ideally you will have:
- Experience in developing and managing a Performance Support (or other Multidisciplinary) team in the delivery of strategic objectives and the delivery of Performance support to elite athletes.
- Performan Post-graduate qualifications in a Sports Science or Sports Medicine related field or high level industy experience and practical experience in elite sport.
- Able to demonstrate management and leadership skills, effective decision making, and critical thinking.
- A high level of self awareness, with an open, consultative, and optimistic approach.
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
- Ability to operate with integrity and maintain confidentiality when dealing with sensitive information.
- Strong organisational skills and ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- A keen commitment to clean sport and abiding by AA's National Integrity Framework suite of policies including the Australian National Anti-doping Policy, Safeguarding Children and Young Persons Policy, and Code of Conduct.
- Hold and maintain a valid Working with Children Check and (or ability to hold) Police Check.
