The Australian Cricketers’ Association (ACA) is the collective and representative voice of past and present male and female professional domestic and international cricketers in Australia. Our purpose is to be champion of our members and the game, we strive to offer our members best practice service and support throughout every stage in their life of cricket and beyond.
An exciting opportunity as the Head of Women’s Cricket and Player Relations has opened up in our team. This role is preferably based in our Melbourne office.
Reporting to the General Manager this role will build strong relationships with ACA members, in particular current female players, engaging, listening and educating players to enforce, manage and identify opportunities for improvement of the MOU and also ensure the wellbeing and support of our members.
About the Role
As an experienced sporting industry professional or elite athlete, you have the capacity to be a hands-on, sleeves-up team player with superior diplomacy and communication skills. You will be comfortable advocating for our members and developing effective relationships with current and past players, Cricket Australia and State cricket Associations.
Key responsibilities of the role include:
- Develop a detailed understanding of the MOU to be the subject matter expert amongst female players and internal ACA team
- Manage issue resolution as required and enforce MOU terms
- Develop, and lead female player views for cricket related committees in the MOU (Playing Conditions, OH&S, SSAG)
- Develop and maintain an in-depth knowledge of the cricket landscape, players needs/concerns at a domestic and international level with the ability to apply this knowledge to the MOU
- Be a member of delivery team with structured team visits with playing groups to engage, listen to and educate players while also managing informal player engagement opportunities.
- Lead the delivery of a delegate engagement plan including regular calls, annual delegates conference and delegate development plans.
- Evolve and implement the ACA’s organising and current player Member engagement strategy
- Maintain thorough communication with key external stakeholders, including Cricket Australia, State Associations and W/BBL clubs.
- Contribute to the development of gender equity initiatives to drive and enhance elite female cricketers
- Develop and strengthen relations with ACA members, with a specific focus on current female leaders and delegates
- Develop and maintain relationships with key past players
- Build effective relationships with pathway players to understand their needs and improve their understanding of the ACA
About You
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in elite sport and/or 3-5yrs+ experience in advocacy/member services with the ability to demonstrate superior conflict resolution skills.
Additionally, to be successful in the role you will need:
- Demonstrated ability to engage and influence people to build positive and mutually beneficial relationships
- Well-developed diplomacy and advocacy skills
- Outstanding communication (both written and verbal) and presentation skills
- Demonstrated capability to maintain confidentiality and privacy
- Highly self-motivated with a positive can-do attitude
- Strong interest in understanding the commercial impacts of a rapidly changing industry and growth of female elite athletes
- Ability to build and maintain relationships to engage and influence a wide audience of stakeholders
- Demonstrating sound professional judgement
