ABOUT THE ROLE
The Elite Referee Coach's primary purpose is to lead the coaching, development, and improvement of the Football Australia Elite Referee Panel. This role encompasses providing leadership, direction, and coaching for match officials within the professional leagues.
Location: Flexible
Work Type: Part-Time (0.5 FTE) Fixed Term Contract for 2 years
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Lead the coaching, development, and improvement of the Football Australia Elite Referee Panel by implementing targeted coaching programs, comprehensive performance evaluations, and personalised development plans.
- Provide leadership and direction to match officials within the professional leagues, ensuring alignment with the Australian Refereeing Philosophy and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Design and deliver practical training sessions for the Football Australia Elite Referee Panels to drive practical improvement to the group.
- Monitor and analyse global trends in referee development, incorporating best practices and emerging techniques into the coaching and development programs for Australian match officials.
- Continuously evaluate the effectiveness of coaching programs and development initiatives, making data-driven adjustments to ensure Australian match officials remain at the forefront of global referee development.
- Provide support and encouragement within the Department and ensure an alignment of a strong team culture with all football departments.
- Develop and implement strategies to increase the capacity and capability of the Refereeing panel, focusing on improving on-field decision-making accuracy to exceed 95% without VAR and 98% with VAR, by providing targeted coaching and training programs that address specific areas of need.
- Design coaching material centered around the Australian Refereeing Philosophy, ensuring referees are well-equipped and prepared to meet the expectations and demands of both domestic and international competitions.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and learning among the refereeing group, enabling them to adapt and respond effectively to the evolving challenges of modern football at both domestic and global levels.
- Implement additional actions and initiatives aimed at enhancing the overall quality of refereeing in the A-Leagues, ensuring that match officials are prepared and equipped to perform at the highest level, with an emphasis on consistent and accurate decision-making.

ABOUT YOU
Experience, Skills and Qualifications:
- Experience at officiating at FIFA and AFC tournament, competitions, and events
- Excellent stakeholder management, with demonstrated experience in a high-performance environment.
- Thorough and contemporary understanding of the laws of football
- Knowledge of modern football trends
- Excellent communication skills
- Dispute resolution skills
- Strong technology skills

- Full working rights in Australia
- Working with children check (paid/employee) or state-based equivalent
- International Criminal History Record for each country (other than Australia) in which you have resided for 12 months or more in the last 10 years (if applicable)
