ABOUT THE POSITION
This is a full-time position based at the Murray Rose Aquatic & Fitness Centre in Bellevue Hill.
Reporting to the Director of Sport P-12 and working closely with the Heads of Sport, this position is responsible for the programming and delivery of the strength and conditioning and athletics performance program for students from Pre-School to Year 12. This includes managing student welfare, participation and discipline, coordinating training loads and sport specific screening and testing, ongoing athletic tracking, liaising with allied health professionals and budget management. The Head of Athletic performance manages the gym/weights centre and a team of Strength & Conditioning Coaches.

ABOUT YOU
You are a qualified and experienced strength and conditioning professional with a demonstrated understanding of athlete development. You have experience working with youth athletes, and working in a gym, field and match day environment. You have the ability to inspire students to achieve goals and to encourage them in the pursuit of excellence.
Capable of working collaboratively, leading a team, and possessing an exemplary understanding of best practice, you have proven expertise and the ability to coach across a broad age and ability range.
You are an excellent communicator, creative, and able to work well with students, parents and colleagues. You are committed to continual professional development and reflection, and have a genuine interest in the growth of young people.
SELECTION CRITERIA
- Tertiary qualification in Human Movement, Exercise, Sports Science, or similar
- Level 2 Strength and Conditioning or Australian Weightlifting Federation Level 2 accreditation
- Previous experience in sports related strength and conditioning programs
- Ability to communicate and collaborate with people at all levels, with diverse backgrounds and across a wide range of age groups
- Excellent planning, organisation and communication (written and verbal) skills
- Capacity to create a motivating and engaging environment that caters to the diverse needs of student athletes
- Genuine passion for strength and conditioning, and research with a particular emphasis on athlete development for youth athletes
- A level of mobility that supports the ability to respond to a first aid / behavioural incident
- Current First Aid and CPR qualifications
- A firm commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
- A demonstrated understanding of child safety and appropriate behaviours when engaging with children.
