About the Victorian Skateboard Association Inc. (VSA): The Victorian Skateboard Association (VSA) is a not-for-profit organisation recognised by the Victorian Government as the State Sporting Association for Skateboarding. Our mission is to grow and promote skateboarding across Victoria by collaborating with education providers, local governments, businesses, and other affiliate organisations to deliver inclusive programs and events.
We are dedicated to:
Elevating the visibility of skateboarding.
Expanding participation across diverse communities.
Creating exceptional opportunities for skateboarding enthusiasts.
Championing Gender Equity and Female Leadership: The VSA is dedicated to advancing gender equity in skateboarding leadership and participation. Increasing female representation on our Board reflects Victoria’s diversity and serves as an inspiration for future leaders and participants. To support this goal, the VSA Board is seeking to appoint at least two new female Directors.
Director Roles and Responsibilities:
Director positions are voluntary and Appointed Directors serve a three-year term.
In 2025, the Board will develop a new long-term and medium-term strategic plan for skateboarding in Victoria. Appointed Directors will play a pivotal role in this process.
Directors are expected to attend 8 annual meetings per year, most of which are online.
Individuals aspiring to future leadership roles, such as Chair, are encouraged to apply.
Eligibility Criteria: Nominees must:
Possess the skills, knowledge, and experience outlined in the Director Position Description.
Be 18 years or older.
Agree to the VSA Constitution and organisational policies.
Desired Skills and Experience: The Board is seeking candidates with expertise in the following areas:
Fundraising and government relations.
Integrated marketing (strategic communications)
Legal, regulatory, and compliance matters.
Finance, accounting, or auditing.
Strategic planning
Nomination and Appointment Process:
New Directors will be appointed at the March 2024 VSA General Board Meeting.
The Nominations Committee (comprised of current Board members) will assess candidates based on strategic priorities and existing skills. All decisions are final.
