Description

Shooting Australia (SA) is looking for the person that will lead its world-class Shotgun National Program to the LA 2028 Olympic Games and beyond.

SA is the peak national sporting organisation for Olympic and Paralympic target shooting in Australia. Our primary purpose is to identify and develop talented athletes across Pistol, Rifle and Shotgun, and to support their successful engagement and medal-winning performances in World Championships and the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The Shotgun Program Manager (SPM) will lead the planning and delivery of SA’s world-class Shotgun National Program including the National Centre of Excellence in Melbourne, which operates through a partnership between SA and the Victorian Institute of Sport (VIS). The SPM will work closely and collaboratively with a range of coaching and performance support staff from SA and the VIS to ensure that Australia’s best Shotgun athletes are challenged and supported to unlock their full performance potential through a contemporary approach to training – on and off the range – that will enable their success in peak international competitions.

This role lends itself to someone with an intimate understanding of the priorities processes that underpin the development of athletes and coaches. The successful candidate may or may not come from Shooting but they will need to leverage their knowledge and experience of the sport and/or Australia’s high performance sports system in ways that align with the current and future needs of our best Shotgun athletes, National Teams and National Program. The SPM will need to be curious and lead others to be curious and exploring the unfamiliar. To support this, the successful candidate will require highly-developed people skills and the ability to surface and understand different perspectives towards the provision of clear and impactful direction.
