Description

The Communications Advisor will be responsible for managing and executing projects aligned with the strategic objectives of ASAPD organisations. They will also play a role in shaping and advancing the communications strategy of each member organisation.

This position is responsible for managing both external and internal communications efforts, ensuring consistency with each member organisation’s mission and objectives, and enhancing its visibility across key audiences.

The successful candidate will work closely with the CEO, National Project Manager, Strategic Engagement Advisor and other ASAPD team members to engage stakeholders, build relationships, and contribute to the success of various projects.

This position offers flexibility in hours and the opportunity to contribute to a meaningful cause, working within a dynamic and purpose-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

Communications Strategy and Advisory

  • Provide expert communications advice to engage external audiences with the organisation's program objectives, fostering trust and enhancing visibility.
  • Develop and implement communications strategies that engage internal audiences, ensuring alignment with each member organisation’s mission and values.

Content Development

  • Produce high-quality and effective content (e.g., press releases, social media content, newsletters, reports) that delivers on stakeholder engagement and project objectives.
  • Ensure all communication materials are consistent with member organisation’s branding and messaging guidelines.

Stakeholder Engagement and Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain productive relationships with member organisations, partners, media, and other stakeholders.
  • Identify issues and opportunities within the sector and provide expert advice to influence the management and promotion of these initiatives.

Project Support and Collaboration

  • Work closely with the CEO, ASAPD team members and member organisations to support communications for various projects and initiatives.
  • Contribute to a high-performing team environment by collaborating effectively with internal and external stakeholders to achieve project outcomes.

Monitoring and Reporting

  • Monitor the impact and effectiveness of communication strategies, providing feedback and adjusting approaches as necessary.
  • Deliver regular reports and updates to the CEO and member organisations on communication activities, outcomes, and areas for improvement.

Essential Requirements

  • Strong writing, editing, and content production skills, with a proven ability to create engaging and impactful communications
  • Experience in building and managing stakeholder relationships, with the ability to provide strategic advice and influence outcomes
  • Excellent organisational skills, with the capacity to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
  • Proficiency in digital communication tools, social media platforms, and content management systems

Desirable Criteria

  • Relevant Tertiary Qualification
  • A passion for sport and community engagement, and an understanding of the not-for-profit sector
  • Prior work in the charity, not-for-profit, or sports sectors
  • Experience with sport-for-development or community outreach programs
  • Proficiency in digital tools: Strong skills in content management systems, social media management, and digital marketing tools
  • Experience working with various stakeholders, including government agencies, corporate partners, community organisations, and volunteers
  • Proven ability to work independently in a remote environment
