About the position

La Trobe Sport oversees the active engagement of the wider community through the use of its sporting facilities and sport services.

The primary purpose of this position is to work with the Commercial Programs Manager, La Trobe Sport, to lead the Aquatic Programs inclusive of La Trobe Learn to Swim School, School Programs and University Multicultural Programs. The successful encumbent will ensure the delivery of high-quality, commercially sustainable programs aligned to the Swim and Survive Curriculum, Life Saving Victoria Platinum Pool Program as well as La Trobe Sport vision and values.

Duties will include but not limited to:

  • Under broad supervision of the Commercial Programs Manager, La Trobe Sport, ensure high quality aquatic programs that meet industry standards and expectations of customer needs.
  • Oversee the recruitment, performance and development of aquatic programs team members, including training and mandatory qualifications.
  • Identify and action participation targets and growth outcomes of the La Trobe Swim School and Aquatic Programs including reporting against KPIs and budget.
  • Liaise with the International Department to develop and implement effective and impactful water safety and learn to swim opportunities for the La Trobe International Student community.
  • Undertake regular risk management reviews of aquatic programs and activities, including policies and procedures specific to aquatic programs and learn to swim.
  • Facilitate end-to-end bookings and program administration for all aquatic program enquiries, including but not limited to responding to queries, providing quotes, confirming bookings, creating access schedules, ensuring facilities are prepared and programs are appropriately staffed.

 Skills and Experience

To be considered for this position, you will have:

  1. Completion of a degree with subsequent relevant work experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
  2. Demonstrated experience in coordinating a learn to swim school, and designing, coordinating and implementing aquatic programs that aim to meet national benchmarks and standards of learn to swim and water safety.
  3. Excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills, with a proven track record in establishing and maintaining positive stakeholder relationships.
  4. Demonstrated leaderships skills that are result-orientated with a focus on continuous improvement to program delivery, staff development and customer satisfaction.
  5. Strong attention to detail, including well-developed organizational and time management skills, to manage multiple demands and meet tight deadlines.
  6. High-level proficiency in computer software packages including point of sale systems, booking systems, spreadsheets and databases.

DESIRABLE

Completion of the following courses;

  1. Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety 
  2. Teacher of Aquatics, Access & Inclusion or equivalent
  3. Teacher of Infant and Preschool or equivalent
