Description

The Team Liaison Officer (TLO) will serve as a key point of contact and support for the international teams during the 2025 Santos Wheelchair Rugby World Challenge. This role involves ensuring that teams are well-prepared, informed, and supported throughout the event, and helping to create a positive experience for players, coaches, and officials. Volunteers will be expected to assist with logistics, team communication, and general support both before and during the event. With a number of international teams speaking languages other than English, ideally all TLOs will be bilingual in both English and the team language. More about this in the responsibilities below. The 2025 Santos Wheelchair Rugby World Challenge will be held in Adelaide at the Netball SA Stadium from 29 May - 1 June 2025. Volunteer shifts are available from 26 May – 1 June 2025.

Responsibilities

Team Liaison Officers may be asked to assist in achieving the following key responsibilities:

- On-Site Support:

  • Serve as the primary point of connection between teams and event staff during the event.
  • Assist with team check-ins, including providing access to designated areas, briefing on event facilities, and helping teams settle in.
  • Assisting teams during scheduled practices, games, and other event-related activities.
  • Ensure teams are aware of any updates or changes to schedules, venues, and other event logistics.
  • Provide general support for team needs
  • Help teams with any last-minute logistics or requirements on game days (e.g., access to warm-up areas, post-match recovery areas).
  • Assist with translation during the event.

- Problem Solving & Escalation:

  • Collate and escalate any issues or concerns raised by team members quickly and efficiently to the Event Manager or relevant WRA staff if needed.
  • Ensure that all team members are treated with respect and professionalism at all times, helping to resolve any conflicts or challenges that may arise.

Skills

Essential:

  • Conversational proficiency in one of the following languages
    • Korean
    • German
    • Dutch
    • French / Canadian French
    • Portuguese
  • A limited number of TLO roles are available for individuals who are not bilingual but will be working with English-speaking teams. Please outline on your application if this is the case.
