About the role
The AFLW List & Recruiting Manager is responsible for leading the club’s AFLW list management strategy. Working closely with the List Management Committee, this role plays a crucial part in shaping the future success of our AFLW team. You will be responsible for building and implementing a long-term list strategy, managing player recruitment, player movement strategies, and list compliance, ensuring alignment with AFL regulations.
You will also oversee player contracts, liaise with player managers, and lead the AFLW recruiting team to drive a strategic and sustainable approach to building a high-performing playing list. As part of the AFLW senior management team, you will contribute to broader football department discussions and help shape the future of women’s football at Essendon.

You are a passionate and experienced leader in player recruitment and list management, with a strong understanding of AFLW talent pathways and regulations. Your ability to build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including players, managers, and club executives, is second to none. You thrive in a high-performance environment and are confident in negotiating, influencing, and making strategic decisions that align with the club’s long-term success.
Your leadership style is built on collaboration, mentorship, and clear communication, ensuring that your team is well-supported and working towards shared goals. You have a proven track record in talent identification, contract negotiation, and strategic list management. While an in-depth knowledge of AFL rules and regulations is essential, your ability to innovate and think creatively in recruitment strategies will set you apart.
