The Role

As our Technical Officials State Development Manager, you will work closely with the Head of Technical Officials to manage and elevate our officiating development programs. You’ll engage with referee instructors, coaches, and volunteer Program Managers to identify and nurture talented officials, guiding them through their officiating journey and ensuring they meet national standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Talent Growth: Expand and enhance the pool of high-performance officials, from Association Level Accredited Advanced referees and beyond.
  • Program Delivery: Facilitate the delivery of cutting-edge development programs like JDP and ARP, and collaborate on the annual planning for high-performance officials.
  • Innovation: Spearhead initiatives such as our dedicated female officiating program, driving diversity and excellence in the sport.
  • Education & Support: Deliver effective training for referee instructors and coaches, and support talent identification at key events across metro and regional areas.
  • Collaboration: Work in tandem with internal teams and external stakeholders - including Association Referee Development Officers and the Referee Advisory Committee - to continually elevate officiating standards.
  • Management: Oversee the Refbook Platform, ensuring it remains a valuable resource for all officials in our leagues.

What We’re Looking For

  • Basketball Officiating Expertise: You hold a State Level Accreditation or higher.
  • Leadership & Mentoring: Proven ability to lead and inspire diverse teams while fostering a culture of excellence.
  • Program Management: Demonstrated experience in planning, implementing, and evaluating high-performance development programs within a sporting context.
  • Effective Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills to collaborate with multiple stakeholders and drive results.
  • Innovative Thinking: A creative mind ready to implement new initiatives and solve challenges.
  • Commitment to Excellence: A passion for maintaining high national officiating standards and continuous improvement.
  • Essential Requirements: Full Australian working rights, a valid Working With Children Check, and a current driver’s licence. Applications without these will not be considered.

Working Hours

Enjoy a balanced work-life with an average of 38 hours per week. Pre-approved weekend work is accommodated with time in lieu under our Time in Lieu Policy.
