Australian Athletics (AA) is the governing body for Athletics in this country. It is a National Sporting Organisation whose major partner is the Australian Sports Commission. AA is responsible for all athletics activity, including high performance, participation, coaching, officiating, juniors, para-athletics, domestic and international competition. Australian Athletics has a critical role in leading, fostering and encouraging participation in athletics in Australia and promoting excellence in performance.
Heading towards the 2032 Brisbane Olympics & Paralympics, it is an exciting time to join our High Performance Team, we are currently seeking to recruit a Performance Coach Development Manager.
About the Role
The Performance Coach Development Manager is responsible for leading, developing and overseeing the Performance Coaching program utilising the experience and expertise of the Performance Coach Developers. Through leadership and stakeholder management lead the various Event Group Panels to create world leading and sustainably successful event group plans and programs.
Your core duties will include:
- Work with Able Body and Para coaches to ensure that they are equipped with the right skills, knowledge, resources, support and experience to optimise performance.
- Work closely with the AIS Performance Coaching program to further enhance the development of Athletics Performance Coaches.
- Lead the Event Group Panels and empower them to drive their event group’s technical and tactical model and development of those coaches.
- Work with the various areas of High Performance on a project basis to ensure the development of coaches, and a coaches lens is applied to all operations.
- Search for world leading innovation for Australian Athletics to evolve and lead the Event Group Panels to deliver these opportunities for our Australian Athletes and Coaches.
What we are looking for:
You are a natural leader who is innovative and creative with driving success in coaches within a High Performance environment. You are a highly effective communicator, have the ability to build and foster partnerships, are willing to continuously learn, have the motivation to build partnerships that support performance.
You have a passion for the sport and understand coaches, how they think and the questions they ask, and are driven to systemically support them to achieve success with our Australian athletes.
Ideally you will have:
- Experience in international level High Performance Athletics Coaching environment and an understanding of what it takes to be internationally successful as an international Athletics coach.
- Ability to lead people to achieve performance outcomes and deliver superior levels of service in an often unpredictable and challenging environment.
- Ability to maintain stable performance under pressure or opposition (e.g. time demands, conflict, multiple responsibilities, unforeseen challenges) and handling stress in a manner that is appropriate and acceptable to others.
- Strong organisational skills and ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
- A keen commitment to clean sport and abiding by AA’s National Integrity Framework suite of policies including the Australian National Anti-doping Policy, Safeguarding Children and Young Persons Policy, and Code of Conduct.
- Hold a current police and working with children check or the ability to obtain prior to the commencement of employment and a current driver's licence.
