Commencing in March 2025, St Peters Lutheran College is seeking to appoint experienced and passionate rowing coaches to join our dedicated rowing program for the 2025 rowing season. We are looking for enthusiastic individuals to fill coaching roles as well as the position of Junior Rowing Coordinator.

St Peters is a Co-Educational Day and Boarding School of the Lutheran Church located on 50 acres just 7 kilometres from Brisbane CBD. Established in 1945 St Peters has developed an enviable reputation in academic scholarship, pastoral care and breadth of co-curricular programs, through which it seeks to provide an exceptional student experience. Together academic staff and corporate staff provide an outstanding educational environment for students to grow and flourish.

Junior Rowing Coach/Coordinator - Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver training programs and schedules for all junior athletes.
  • Coordinate and manage Junior coaching staff, providing guidance and support.
  • Support and attend all scheduled regattas.
  • Manage and facilitate testing processes throughout the season.
  • Assist with the loading and unloading of boat trailers
  • Foster a positive and inclusive team culture, encouraging athlete and coach development.
  • Administration of all aspects of the Rowing Program.

Rowing Coach - Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate and develop the rowing program provided by the Head Rowing coach, focusing on skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship aligned with the program’s goals.
  • Provide supportive and encouraging coaching of students throughout the rowing season.
  • Mentor and guide student-athletes in their personal and athletic growth.
  • Organise and support on-water and land practices, regattas, and team events.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive team environment.
  • Communicate effectively with students, Head Coach and Rowing Coordinator.
  • Promote and uphold the values of the school/organisation.

Qualifications:

  • Level 1 Rowing Coaches Accreditation (Minimum)
  • Current First Aid/CPR Certificate (or willingness to obtain)
  • Current and valid Blue Card (or willingness to obtain)
  • Minimum of 1 year of coaching experience
  • Experience in coaching rowing, with a strong understanding of rowing techniques and strategies.
  • Strong organisational and leadership skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including mornings, evenings and weekends.
