The Kick-off Story

The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has awarded Football Australia hosting rights for the 2026 edition of the AFC Women's Asian Cup™. This marks Australia's second time hosting the event, after previously staging it in 2006, and follows the success of co-hosting the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup™.

You will be part of a Local Organising Committee (LOC), which has been established for the sole purpose of delivering the 2026 edition of the AFC Women's Asian Cup™ in Australia.

This prestigious event will bring together 12 nations in a tournament structured into three groups of four. We are eager to create another tournament that celebrates women's football and multicultural Australia and also delivers legacy outcomes for football and Australian society more broadly.

Your Next Big Match

Reporting operationally to the General Manager, Competition, the Manager - Team and Referee Services will be a key member of the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2026 LOC, and work in close collaboration with the LOC Services team, the AFC and other key individuals responsible for delivering all administrative matters for participating teams and referees across the tournament. This is a fixed term contract-based role ideal for a dynamic and experienced candidate with a proven track record working in elite sport and at large-scale temporary events, who has exceptional stakeholder management skills and is a strategic thinker with prioritisation and communication skills

Please note that this role is fixed term until April 2026.

  • Lead and coordinate the Team and Referee Services Program, ensuring smooth operations and key milestone delivery.
  • Provide administrative support across policies, procedures, and operational planning for teams and referees.
  • Plan and execute workshops and inspections in collaboration with the AFC.
  • Liaise with LOC teams to integrate services across Accommodation, Transport, and Immigration.
  • Oversee workforce planning and management for Team and Referee Liaison Officers during Tournament Time.
  • Represent Team and Referee Services in project planning meetings and ensure preparedness for various team and referee needs.

What Gets You in the Game?

  • 5+ years of experience in high-performance sports with professional teams and elite athletes.
  • Strong communication, planning, and organizational skills, with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to collaborate and lead, managing teams and coordinating across functional areas.
  • Proven problem-solving and decision-making skills, with sound judgment under pressure.
  • Adaptability to international and dynamic environments, working effectively with diverse cultures.
  • Experience in project management, including pre-event planning and event execution, with proficiency in MS Office and project planning tools.

Must demonstrate the ability to work with agility, foster trust, embrace inclusivity, collaborate as one united team, and consistently strive for excellence.

  • Working with children check (paid/employee) or state-based equivalent 
  • International Criminal History Record for each country (other than Australia) in which you have resided for 12 months or more in the last 10 years (if applicable)
  • Out of hours and weekend work as required
  • Our roles are based at Moore Park in Sydney
