Leading one of Melbourne’s best internal Leisure management teams across three unique facilities each with its own exciting opportunities and challenges:

Ivanhoe Aquatic Centre (IAC) - A thriving highly patronised municipal level facility with strong community connections.

Banyule Nets Stadium - A modern dedicated facility for netball with indoor and outdoor courts and active recreation programming space.

Olympic Leisure Centre - A local level neighbourhood facility that was originally built to support athletes and officials of the 1956 Olympic Games.

This role is part of Banyule’s Leadership Network - you’ll have opportunities to grow your skills and experience of leadership in a Local Government context and develop your skills as an organisational leader beyond your leisure expertise.

What you’ll do

  • A Role with Impact: Directly contribute to the health and wellbeing of our community, working with community and Council.
  • Inspire Teams: Foster a positive culture where staff feel supported to innovate and adapt.
  • Exciting Projects: Be part of transformative initiatives like the IAC stage 2 redevelopment with opportunities to work across Council on related projects.
  • Be a valuable contributor to the dynamic Healthy and Active Communities leadership team 

What you'll bring/what we are looking for

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Expertise in leisure facility management, innovation, and community engagement.
  • Strong people management skills with proven ability to lead diverse teams to thrive
  • Solid financial and business acumen, with experience in capital projects, and compliance requirements.
  • A passion for delivering exceptional customer experiences and health and participation outcomes
  • Tertiary qualifications in Sports Management, Recreation, or related disciplines, plus relevant experience.

Pre-employment requirements

  • Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check (NCCHC) (Previously known as a police check)
  • Current Victorian Drivers Licence
  • Current Working with Children’s Check
  • Psychometric Assessment

We offer:

  • Salary $145,000 to $155,000 (dependent on experience) per annum plus super, and a contract of 3-5 years will be negotiated with the successful candidate.
