The Opportunity

A six-month opportunity has become available at Council’s Noosa Aquatic Centre, supervising the day-to-day operations, learn to swim and schools-based water education programs. 

The position will effectively link the learn to swim program to the squad program through development and implementation of new and innovative programs, as well as identifying and implementing business opportunities in the learn to swim program area.

  • Position Remuneration: Level 3 ($75,709 base annual salary) / ($85,936 total remuneration package which is based on a permanent full-time employee and inclusive of 12% employer superannuation and 17.5% leave loading).

About You

To undertake this position, you will have significant previous experience in coordinating learn to swim programs in a leadership capacity, within a productive and quality work environment.

You will have the proven ability of continual monitoring/implementation of program changes to maintain high occupancy rates for the efficient running of program to ensure commercial operation viability.

Furthermore, but not limited to, you will display demonstrated experience and knowledge of swim school management including program development, training, promotion, resources management, industry standards, government regulations, risk and WHS compliance.

The position's focus will be:

  • Develop in partnership with the NAC Coordinator the strategic direction of the Learn to Swim (LTS) programs with a commitment to quality, best practise and continuous improvement, of swim lessons, aquatic education and water safety programs in a manner that reflects a commercial orientation.
  • Lead the LTS operations including all bookings, payments, schedules, roster and reception processes for the LTS Program, including school aquatic education, holiday intensives and private lessons.
  • Oversee and develop best in class recruitment initiatives, training, mentoring, performance, leadership of LTS instructors, maintaining rigour and compliance of essential qualifications.
  • Work in alignment and collaborate with NAC Swim Squad Program, maintaining and promoting a pathways and alignment from LTS to Swim Squad.
  • Continue to identify and evaluate new strategic business opportunities and innovations in learn to swim, aquatic education and water safety industries.
  • Prepare and present regular reports on matters of budget performance, program occupancy levels, program development, new marketing or development initiatives to achieve continuous improvement.
  • Assist Council promotions staff with media queries, promotions and marketing of LTS initiatives and successes.
  • Provide answers and advice to general enquiries in a courteous and customer orientated manner and ensure all reception staff are conversant and regularly updated with all LTS program information.
  • Ensure an accurate record keeping, information database and appropriate statistics on programs and participation.
  • Participate and contribute as a member of the Senior Management Team (SMT) and collaborate strategically and openly with all internal stakeholders.
  • Maintain teacher of swimming and water safety qualifications (Austswim) and essential qualifications, keeping abreast of all learn to swim, aquatic education and water safety trends, changes and developments.
  • Act as shift duty manager when rostered or as directed and ensure all shift employees comply with centre procedures and policies.
  • Other relevant duties as required from time to time which would generally fall within the scope of this position.
