About Us

Shooting Australia (SA) is funded by the Australian Sports Commission and is the recognised national sporting organisation for Olympic and Paralympic target shooting in Australia. SA’s primary purpose is to identify and develop talented athletes, and to support their successful engagement and medal-winning performances in international competitions including World Cups, World Championships and the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Position Purpose

The Sport Development, Event and Communication Team plays a critical role in the delivery of initiatives and activities that underpin the delivery of SA’s High Performance Program, and which builds the capacity and capability of Olympic and Paralympic target shooting in Australia.

The Events and Sport Development Coordinator (ESDC) will work closely with the Sport Development, Event and Communication Manager to plan and deliver a comprehensive series of annual events including Shooting Australia’s Endorsed Domestic Event Series.

The ESDC will also support the planning and execution of key initiatives and activities identified in SA’s ‘Play Well’ Implementation Plan. 

Applicant Requirements

To be considered for this role, the applicant will need to demonstrate: 

  • Experience in the planning and delivery of competitions and events at state, national and/or international levels.
  • Experience in the coordination and implementation of detailed logistics and/or operational administration.
  • Experience and an understanding working with volunteers.
  • Demonstrated experience working autonomously and in small, multi-functionary teams.
  • High-level planning and organisational skills including strong time management and the ability to prioritise key tasks.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to influence positive outcomes with people from a diverse range of backgrounds.
  • Ability to identify and resolve challenges and conflicts if/as they arise.
  • Ability to work flexibly as interstate travel and weekend work will be required from time to time.
  • A highly driven, dynamic, and energetic individual.
  • A strong work ethic and attention to detail.
  • A confident, passionate person with the skills to challenge the status quo and lead change.
  • Willingnes to align and promote SA's values - Respect, Support, Professional, Safe Environment, Excellence and Banter. 
  • Knowledge of target shooting sports highly desireable.

Essential Requirements

  • Working with Children / Working with Vulnerable People Check
  • Drivers Licence
