About the role
As a Contractor, this role will report to the General Manager Women’s Football and will assume the responsibility within the team structure for making medical decisions that affect the Western Bulldogs Women’s players safe participation in the program.
We are seeking an individual who is a Legally Qualified Medical Practitioner and has completed a Bachelor or Medical Studies / Doctor of Medicine at an accredited University with experience working within sport, ideally with female athletes. The Contractor will also be registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.
The successful candidates will have a demonstrated ability to provide medical management of injury and illness as well as advise on health related issues to relevant parties. The successful candidate will be mentored by AFL medical staff that will involve regular clinical and case study discussions as well as opportunities that include attending AFL Men’s games.
The AFLW Head Doctor will provide the following Services:
May - November (pre-season and in season)
- Attendance onsite at Mission Whitten Oval for 2 x contact trainings (Tuesday & Thursday afternoon)
- Attendance for injury review, concussion screenings and meetings (Monday)
- On call services
- Onsite at Misson Whitten Oval and away grounds for AFLW games, including practice matches throughout the season
- Ongoing mentoring and support for VFLW doctors
November - December (post-season)
- Season 10 review process including attendance at exit meetings and end of season review presentation
- Organise review clinical assessments of player injury concerns as required
- Liaise with external consultants as required
- On call services as required
- Attend meetings as required
January - April
- On call services as required
- Organise clinical assessment of player injury concerns as required
- Liaise with external consultants as required
- Attend meetings as required
- Season 11 planning as required
- Phone availability/support for VFLW doctors (mentoring)
