The City of Burnside and Squash SA are seeking coaches for an exciting Wheelchair Squash Pilot Program. You'll run engaging sessions, create an inclusive space, and help grow adaptive squash.
If you're a coach, player, or involved in squash or wheelchair sport, we want to hear from you!
We are looking for a minimum of six coaches to help deliver this pilot program, with over 50 coaching opportunities (up to 170 total coaching hours) planned across the City of Burnside Council area.
Each time a coach delivers a session, they will be engaged for a minimum of three hours.
Sessions will be scheduled regularly and based on coach availability.
All coaching opportunities are expected to be completed before 30 September 2025. The programs success and potential continuation will be reviewed at the end of the pilot phase.
As this is a casual role, session scheduling will be communicated in advance to allow for flexibility around other commitments.
- People with disability will be prioritised for this position.
- Applicants must be willing to be a contractor for Squash SA and have an ABN.
- Applicants must be over 18 years old.
The Wheelchair Squash Coach will be responsible for:
- Prepare for and set up the session, ensuring all equipment is ready and safe.
- Creating safe, welcoming, and inclusive sporting and leisure environments for everyone.
- Delivering engaging and inclusive sessions, teaching foundation wheelchair sports skills and techniques.
- Maintaining clear and effective communication with participants, addressing any concerns or questions.
- Working collaboratively with other staff and volunteers to ensure a smooth and successful session.
- Adapting sessions to meet the needs of different participants, ensuring everyone can participate fully.
- Communicating with the City of Burnside and Squash SA to prepare for sessions.
Applicants must be available to attend an in-person training workshop on 15 May, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
The workshop will be held at the Community Centre Hall, 401 Greenhill Road, Tusmore, and will be delivered by Disability Sports Australia and Squash SA.
