Organisational Overview
Little Athletics NSW leads and supports the promotion, development and delivery of grassroots athletics programs for participants between the ages of 3 and 17 years across NSW. The participants (members) take part in a range of age-modified running, jumping and throwing events at 190 centres across the State.
Athletics NSW leads and supports athletes, coaches, officials and volunteers in the delivery of Athletics events for all ages across NSW.
The NSW Athletics Partnership (NSWAP), an historic collaboration between Little Athletics NSW (LANSW) and Athletics NSW (ANSW), has redefined athletics in NSW by creating a truly unified and integrated athletics offering for the first time in 56 years. This partnership streamlines the sport under a single affiliation structure, a single membership model and a single championship and event pathway, ensuring a more inclusive, efficient, and accessible experience for all participants in the NSW athletics community.
Position Overview
The Education Coordinator is responsible for working with the Athletics community (including Little Athletics) in NSW to develop and deploy high quality education programs for Coaches, Officials, Age Managers and Volunteers. This work will involve both the development of new and refinement of current education content and delivery methods and the coordination of education courses to meet the needs of our geographically dispersed membership.
This role will also support the Education Manager in administration and coordination of NSW Athletics Teams.
Key Responsibilities
Officials Education
- Working with the Education Manager and the Workforce Manager, coordinate the development of appropriate training courses and materials that provide accessible and robust training for officials at all levels of Little Athletics throughout NSW.
Coach Education
- Coordinate training courses and materials for grassroots participation focused coaches of Little Athletics throughout NSW.
Age Managers Education
- Ensure the Age Managers course is current, relevant and available across NSW to ensure a consistent high level of Age Managers across all centres in NSW.
Grassroots Education Tools
- Ensure the availability and currency of grassroots and community training tools, including but not limited to:
- Tiny Tots training tools
- School and Community training programs
- Centre based skill development programs
- Online platform courses
Person Specifications and Key Selection Criteria
Essential Criteria
Qualifications
- Minimum Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or Higher
Experience, Knowledge and Skills
- A contemporary knowledge of community-based training and education practices suited to both metropolitan and regional communities
- An understanding of coaching, officiating and volunteering education programs and pathways
- Experience working in children’s sport
- Experience in a grassroots, participation based organisation
- Knowledge of Little Athletics
- Well-organised and disciplined approach to project management, with excellent time management skills
