Netball ACT (NACT) is looking for an enthusiastic individual to help plan and coordinate development programs to increase the capacity and capability of Netball ACT umpires and coaches. This role could be suitable for a final year student studying a sports management or similar degree.
With over 8,000 registered members in the ACT, this role will require extensive communication between various stakeholders who play a vital role in promoting netball throughout the ACT. The successful candidate will work alongside District Associations, Netball Australia and the greater ACT netball community to support the engagement with umpires and coaches.
The successful candidate will play a key role in the success of Netball ACT as we promote, inspire and grow the sport of netball in the ACT.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure umpires and coaches are provided mentoring and development opportunities
- Plan and facilitate courses for the ACT netball community
- Create tools, resources and collateral to increase capacity of coaches and umpires
- Work collaboratively with the Netball ACT Umpire Advisory Panel to enhance the Developing Umpire Program
- Play a lead role in allocating umpires for Netball ACT competitions
- Manage the administrative tasks associated with maintaining umpire and coach accreditation
- Build strong relationships with Netball ACT District Associations
- Foster collaborative partnerships with Netball Australia to benefit the netball ecosystem
- Support the development of on-line content with relevant stakeholders
- Contribute to building a high performing growth culture across NACT
Position Capabilities
- Demonstrated experience in umpiring or coaching (preferably both) in community sport with netball experience very highly regarded
- Ability to inspire, empower, influence and enable others
- Flexibility, adaptability and resilience
- A desire to learn and be innovative
- High level interpersonal skills to effectively develop and maintain partnerships, networks and client relationships
- Ability to motivate, support and mentor umpires and coaches in the ACT community
Key Selection Criteria
- Demonstrated experience in a similar role within the sport and recreation sector
- Demonstrated knowledge and skills in the development and delivery of programs for community sport
- Demonstrated experience with different approaches to meet various stakeholder demands
- Experience in building strong relationships with volunteers, community sport associations, schools/universities and community members
