About the opportunity
Located along the Westlink M7, Blacktown International Sports Park (BISP) is the premier elite training and playing facility in Western Sydney. First opened in 2000 for the Sydney Olympic Games, the facility has continued to grow and now incorporates a variety of sporting facilities across 54 hectares, including:
- Blacktown Football Park
- 12 soccer fields with the inclusion of 6 additional fields completed in May 2020
- Western Sydney Wanderers administration and training facility
- Blacktown District Soccer Football Association administration and training facility.

We are currently looking to appoint a grounds person on a permanent, full-time basis. You will report to the senior team leader to gain exposure to the development of annual turf management plans and take proactive steps to drive the continued improvement of playing and training facilities.
As a part of an experienced and passionate grounds team, this role will be responsible for the hands on turf maintenance across the wide variety of sporting facilities and surrounds within BISP. If you have any experience in the preparation of turf cricket wickets, baseball and softball facilities, knowledge of irrigation systems and a good understanding of Workplace Health and Safety, then this could be the role for you!
Position purpose:
- to prepare, maintain, and operate BISP sports facilities and landscaped areas at the highest standard in both event and non-event mode
- maintain tools, plant, and equipment in a serviceable and safe condition
- accountable for contractors assigned to you.
Qualifications and experience
Essential:
- Relevant qualifications in Greenkeeping/Horticulture
- Extensive experience in the preparation of sand profile sports fields and/or horticulture
- Current class C driver's licence
- Experience in a busy park and/or public venue maintenance
- Chemical Application Accreditation
- Demonstrated commitment to and experience in providing high quality customer service
- Ability to work within a team environment
- Availability to work flexible working hours.
Remuneration and benefits
The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Blacktown City Council’s Enterprise Agreement.
- Entry level for this position starts at $1,316.09 per week
- 38-hour working week
- Rostered Day Off (RDO) every second week
