AusCycling is the nation’s peak riding and cycling body, representing more than 5 million Australians who ride bikes. Formed in 2020 from 19 state, territory, and national bodies, AusCycling is responsible for programs, projects and initiatives that encompass BMX, Track, Mountain Bike, Road, Para and recreational.

We help school kids learn to ride, we stage more than 500 events each year, we nurture clubs and create pathways, and we are responsible for the training, welfare, and performance of Australia’s Olympic, Commonwealth Games and World Tour athletes.

Team Purpose             

AusCycling’s Clubs and Community Pillar is responsible for building, supporting, and enhancing the capabilities of both the Club network and associated community organisations.  There is a strategic focus on growing the number of people riding and cycling with Clubs and through programs like AusBike. The team is responsible for developing the network through delivering coach and official education programs and initiatives, and State and Territory based events, competitions and pathways.

Position Purpose       

The State Development Lead will support Victorian clubs in building capacity and capability, focusing on club development, workforce, and community engagement.

This role will strengthen volunteer workforces, support club growth, and drive increased participation through AusCycling program delivery.  Aligning with the Victorian Operational Plan and working in step with the State Operations Manager and the Victorian office.

Responsibilities         

The following responsibilities outline the core expectations of the role but are not an exhaustive list of all requirements.

  • Support the rollout of AusCycling Club Development strategies and programs.
  • Facilitate instructor, coach, and official development, including training opportunities.
  • Support the development of the AusBike Delivery Network through clubs, schools and other delivery partnerships.
  • Guide clubs in implementing development tools
  • Support clubs in launching new entry-level programs (AusBike), including Come and Try sessions and junior cycling initiatives.
  • Lead mass participation initiatives, events, and major event activations, ensuring effective planning, execution, and engagement.
  • Support the delivery of the Victorian state teams
  • Provide administrative & delivery support in implementing the Victorian Operational Plan. 
  • Lead, and execute social media strategies for the Victorian region, including Club EDM processes.
  • Align messaging and maintain brand consistency across all social media channels in collaboration with Victorian Events and Operations teams.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with Clubs in Victoria.
  • Develop and retain positive working relationships with stakeholders.

Other

  • Provide administrative support & other duties to the State Operations Manager - VIC/TAS as required.
  • Contribute to the collection of data to support the measurement of key VIC Operational KPIs
  • Safeguard the integrity of AusCycling through implementation of the highest standards and community expectations within the state or territory with regard to inclusion, the safety and wellbeing of children, and anti- doping.

Essential Requirements

  • National Police / Criminal History Check
  • Working with Children / Working with Vulnerable People Check

Desirable Criteria

  • Sports Management / Business Degree
  • Tertiary qualifications in Sport Management, Community Engagement (or related field) would be an advantage but are not essential for the role.
