The Carlton Football Club is one of Australia’s oldest and most prominent sport institutions. Founded in 1864, the Club headquarters and training facilities are located in Carlton at IKON Park, our traditional home ground. Our IKON Park redevelopment is now complete, and we are proud of our state-of-the-art facilities that supports our high-performance environment.

About the Role
The Insights Analyst is responsible for leveraging data and delivering actionable insights to drive strategic decision making across the Carlton Football Club. Working cross functionally, this role delivers data insights through analysis to solve business issues.
This role will be responsible for data analytics projects from inception to delivery. This will include the creation of dashboards and communication of deeper insights to key business stakeholders within the Club, as well as championing principles of good data governance by educating colleagues on how best to collect, store and manage usable data from both internal and external sources.
As part of the Data Analytics team, innovation is encouraged, so there will also be the opportunity to explore new methods of problem solving and data analysis.
This role will be to commence by early to mid-June.
Key Responsibilities
- Delivering data-driven insights to key business stakeholders within the Club.
- Partner with departments to proactively identify and solve problems through data analysis.
- Develop and maintain dashboards and reporting across multiple departments, including Consumer Business, Marketing, Commercial Operations and Corporate Services.
- Administration of Club data sets including (but not limited to) membership sales and attendance information, partnership campaigns, merchandise sales.
- Oversee collection and cleaning of externally and internally sourced data such as survey results, consumer and sales data for use in analysis and/or storage in the Club’s data warehouse.
- Documentation of the Club’s data sources, in-flows, use and storage within Club systems.
- Adhere to the Club’s data governance principles and guide others to ensure best practices are used across the Club.
Experience, Skills and Attributes
- Undergraduate degree in mathematics, statistics, computer science, or any related field and/or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrated previous work experience in an analytical role (or similar).
- An understanding of Australian Rules football and the AFL industry.
- Previous experience working in a sporting organization is preferred, although not essential.
- Highly developed analytical ability and strong problem- solving skills.
- Experience working with business intelligence/visualisation tools (e.g. Tableau, PowerBI).
- Familiarity with programming and querying languages (e.g. R, SQL) (desirable).
- A sound understanding of data governance principles and quality control.
- Strong communication/presentation skills and an ability to build positive working relationships with others.
- Highly self-motivated and proactive, with an ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Effective time management and stakeholder management skills.
