Description

Attend up to 9 board and assistant board meetings, plus AGM and any SGM’s. Also, any subcommittee meetings where relevant. Board meetings are usually held online (In person is also available for those who wish) on the first Thursday of every month from 7-9pm at the latest.

The Board may also meet to attend to various matters including for example, input to strategic planning. Other opportunities to attend prestigious events including Government house for special occasions. The Victorian Billiards Association is the state recognised body for our sport and has the privillege of our Patron being Her Excellency Professor the Honourable Margaret Gardner AC, Governor of Victoria. Other events available to attend include State, National finals and International finals where other high-profile may be in attendance including Here Excellency and state sporting ministers.

Governance

  • Review and maintain/update the organization’s official records with governing bodies such as CAV, ATO, Business register etc.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, including filing annual reports or other corporate filings e.g. quarterly Women on boards declarations, AGM filing etc.

Legal and Compliance Duties (especially in nonprofits or corporations)

  • Ensure the board adheres to legal standards and corporate governance best practices.
  • In partnership with the secretary ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, including filing annual reports or other corporate filings.
  • Work with legal counsel when necessary to interpret bylaws or resolve governance issues.

Compliance (Dispute, grievance, disciplinary etc.)

  • Drive and facilitate any disciplinary reviews and appeals in line with the constitution including convening independent subcommittees and reviews
  • Ensure compliance with the dispute resolution process in line with the constitution

Communication

  • Act as a liaison between the board and government and other legal groups.
  • Ensure board members receive timely updates and communications.
  • Manage correspondence related to board matters.
