Description

The Adelaide BVWC Marcomms & Community Engagement Manager is a key role designed to ensure the successful promotion, visibility and impactof the Adelaide BVWC. This part-time position is responsible for driving the marketing, communications, and community engagement strategies that will ensure the success of the event for all stakeholders. The role is instrumental in activating the nation-wide Volleyball community, South Australian sports fans and multicultural groups to foster strong engagement and drive ticket sales for the championships.

Job Responsibilities

  • Implementation of marketing & communications strategy: Develop and execute strategic marketing and communications campaigns aligned with the Adelaide BVWC marketing objectives to promote the championships to the defined target audience.
  • Fan engagement: Ensure consistent and impactful messaging that builds awareness, drives engagement, and maximises ticket sales to a South Australian, national and international audience.
  • Collaboration across the sport: Implement an engagement strategy to target state and territory volleyball associations, athlete ambassadors, members, participants and stakeholders to amplify event messaging, maximise visibility and drive ticket sales through coordinated marketing initiatives.
  • Community engagement: Collaborate with the Adelaide BVWC Working Group to drive community outreach programs across a wide network of multicultural groups, schools and universities to build excitement in the lead-up to the event.
  • Media relations: Manage pre-event media relations, including drafting press releases, coordinating media inquiries, and securing positive media coverage to enhance visibility leading into the event.
  • Content development and social media management: Design and create print and digital content across social media platforms, websites and email campaigns, ensuring consistency with the Championship’s brand and Volleyball Australia communication platforms.
  • Graphic design: Create and implement branded collateral that aligns with the event’s brand strategy including promotional materials and digital assets aligned with Volleyball World’s event brand guidelines.
  • Event promotion and support: Lead promotional activities and coordinate with the BVWC team to ensure timely delivery of marketing materials and seamless integration with event delivery.
  • Budget management & reporting: Manage and monitor the marcomms budget, monitor campaign effectiveness, and provide regular and timely data-driven updates to the Adelaide BVWC CEO. Identify recommendations and opportunities for maximising the impact of the event marketing and communications campaigns.
  • Team collaboration: Work closely with the Adelaide BVWC CEO, executive team and staff, contractors and volunteers and actively demonstrate a team-first attitude and behaviours to ensure the Championship’s successful delivery.

Successful applicant will be required to adhere to Volleyball Australia’s policies and procedures including the National Integrity Framework and associated integrity policies and the Code of Conduct.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential

  • Proven track record in sports marketing and communications in a similar position;
  • 3-5 years of experience in marketing and communications, preferably in major sport events;
  • High level experience in budget management;
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal;
  • Experience in media relations;
  • Experience in stakeholder management;
  • Current Working with Children Check.

Desirable

  • Experience in working in a similar position in Adelaide is strongly desirable;
  • Bachelor degree in marketing, communications or a related field.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Expertise in marketing and communication strategies,
  • Strong digital marketing skills across various platforms,
  • Excellent stakeholder relationship management,
  • Ability to work under pressure, prioritise tasks and meet critical deadlines whilst managing multiple projects simultaneously,
  • Exceptional time management and organisational skills,
  • Strong ability to work as part of a team,
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal,
  • Must be able to demonstrate an understanding of appropriate behaviours when engaging with Children.

  • Ability to show initiative with a demonstrated commitment to the Championships with the ability to work independently and inter-dependently as a manager,
  • Ability to be adaptable and flexible and make changes at short notice when things don’t go to plan,
  • Ability to be resilient and push through difficult situations, keep calm under stress and process problem solving skills in a calm thoughtful way,
  • Flexible and adaptable, with willingness to work evenings and weekends as required.

Work Conditions

The Adelaide-based position will commence from October 2024.

Applicants must hold an existing Australian working visa or be an Australian citizen/permanent resident to be considered.

Flexible work hours and conditions can be negotiated. The Championship delivery phase will require extensive after hours and weekend work, particularly throughout October and November 2025.
