Welcome to Abbotsleigh, a pre-kindergarten to Year 12 Anglican day and boarding school for girls located in Wahroonga, on Sydney’s North Shore.
Abbotsleigh is a well-established swimming club in Wahroonga, on Sydney’s North Shore, with success at State, National and International levels. The club caters for all swimmers, from those in learn to swim, to swimmers at elite levels. The facility is a 25m indoor pool on the school’s Senior School campus. As a full-time assistant coach, you will lead our Black Squad, coaching State and National level athletes. You will assist the Head Coach and will be exposed to our elite-level swimmers. You will participate in competitions, training camps, and the school program. As a Development or Advanced Coach (previously Bronze or Silver Licence), you will be actively mentored in this role. Key Responsibilities:
Abbotsleigh School Swimming Program:
- Assist in all levels of the swimming program as needed by the Head Swimming Coach.
- Develop season and weekly plans for the Black squad and Junior Challenge squad.
- Collaborate with the Head Swimming Coach and Learn to Swim Coordinator to provide professional development for staff.
- Contribute to the development of coaching resources and support the Junior School competition swim program.
- Attend school carnivals and swimming meets, including IPSHA and NSWCIS events.
- Identify and guide talented swimmers to club-level competition.
- Engage with parents through seasonal meetings and ensure effective communication.
Abbotsleigh Swimming Club:
- Promote and support the Abbotsleigh Swimming Club.
- Attend swimming meets during both summer and winter seasons.
- Participate in club meetings and support club activities, including holiday camps and relay organisation.
Policy, Procedural, and Systems Compliance:
- Adhere to all organisational policies, procedures, and relevant legislation.
- Liaise with the Aquatic Centre Manager regarding pool hygiene and safety concerns.
Key Skills and Service Excellence:
- Deliver excellent service and coaching to a diverse range of swimmers.
- Communicate effectively with participants, parents, and staff.
- Construct lesson plans tailored to various skill levels.
- Maintain positive relationships within the school environment.
- Work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
Essential Qualifications:
- Working With Children Check
- Preferred Advanced Coach qualifications
- Current First Aid and CPR certificates
- Development Coach qualifications considered based on experience
Desirable Qualifications:
- Level 1 Swimming Coach Bronze/Silver Licensed Swimming Coach
- Degree in Sports Administration or Health Sciences
