About Sydney Uni Sport
Sydney Uni Sport is a dynamic organisation providing a wide range of sporting, recreation, and fitness services to the University and general community. This includes the management of 40 sporting clubs, several fitness and health facilities, and coordination of university and community-based sport and recreation programs.
About the Role
Sydney Uni Sport (SUS) is now on the search for 2 x Duty Managers (full time, 38 hours per week) to work in the Sydney Uni Sports & Aquatic Centre at Darlington.
The energetic, motivated, and experienced persons will work closely with Sydney Uni Sport staff to ensure the smooth operation of the Centre, and the staff are providing exceptional customer service to members and guests of the facility.
The Duty Managers work on a monthly rotating roster with shifts attending between morning and evening hours. Flexibility is essential as shift times will vary each month to meet the demands of the business.
Key Responsibilities
1. Supervisory Duties
- Ensure that all staff adheres to the Sydney Uni Sport and policies and procedures.
- Assist Customer Service Attendants, as required.
- Supervise all staff and their appropriate areas - including fitness centre and customer service staff.
- Supervise and liaise with members, university clubs, affiliated groups and organisations using the centre.
- Adjudicate on problems which may arise from time to time and affect the operation of the centre, its staff, and members - including misconduct.
- Supervise and liaise with cafe manager, tradesmen and contractors that may be required to carry out work within the centre from time to time - ensuring the quality of work, cleanliness of the centre and the safety of members and staff.
- Ensure the security of the building at all times and liaise with University Security on all matters of security within the centre and immediate surrounds.
- Supervise and liaise with the cleaning contractor ensuring cleanliness, hygiene and health standards are maintained at all times.
2. Financial Control
- Supervise the receiving, receipting, and balancing of all monies received.
- Securing all monies in safe at the completion of each shift.
- Supervise stock management and security.
- Budget control - ensure the centre operates with budgetary guidelines by the efficient use of equipment, lighting, heating (energy) and staff rostering.
- Seek quotations, where necessary, for the purchase of equipment and the carrying out of work by contractors.
- Check all invoices for the delivery of goods and report all work carried out.
3. General Duties
- Carry out lifeguarding and first aid procedures as required.
- Ensure accurate booking and usage of pool, court, and venue hirers.
- Ensure timely and effective responses to member enquiries and issues.
- Be familiar with and carry out, where necessary, emergency evacuation procedures.
- Ensure that all staff are familiar with emergency procedures.
- Report to Centre Manager, General Manager Facilities, Head of Operations & Infrastrasture on all matters effecting the operation of the centre including health and safety, staff, and security.
- Assisting in the covering of breaks for all staff (Lifeguarding & CSA) in a timely manner.
- Manage site bookings in all areas of the facility, ensuring set up and pack down is completed for the effective operations of the facility.
- The sales of memberships, company products and offerings, as per online requests, phone calls and other formats.
4. Plant Control and Maintenance
- Carry out where necessary any maintenance to the pool, plant, and equipment, and/or report to the Pool Plant Manager, Centre Manager, General Manager Facilities, and Head of Operations & Infrastructure.
5. Cleaning Duties
- Ensure all aspects of the facility are presentable and carry out cleaning where necessary.
Required Capabilities & Qualifications
Essential:
- Exemplary interpersonal (people), communication, organisational and time management skills
- Previous supervisory experience within a gym or sporting centre environment (3+ years)
- First Aid
- Efficient in the use of Microsoft Excel, Word and IT skills
- NSW Working With Children Check
- Pool Lifeguard (certification can be attained if deemed successful in role application)
Desirable:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications - Certificate or Diploma in operations or similar
- Work Health & Safety
- Pool Operators Certificate
