The Aqua Learn to Swim program is held at Key Venues' 5 aquatic venues, Blacktown Aquatic Centre, Blacktown Leisure Centre Stanhope, Charlie Lowles Leisure Centre Emerton, seasonally at Mount Druitt Swimming Centre, and Riverstone Swimming Centre.
Expressions of Interest are being sought for enthusiastic Learn to Swim Instructors to join our Aqua Learn to Swim team on a casual basis. This role will deliver professional and safe learn-to-swim classes to students enrolled in the Aqua Learn to Swim program.
Position purpose:
The role includes:
- delivering the learn to swim program in accordance with framework and standards, be ready to instruct the class prior to starting time (arrive minimum 10 minutes prior to class commencement)
- ensuring classes start and finish on time, be available after the class to consult with students and/or parents/guardians regarding the class or instruction techniques
- managing and report class attendances
- accurately assess the swimming lesson students and complete any necessary administration resulting from this assessment
- providing centre users with relevant and accurate information regarding the Learn to Swim Program and any associated program or service information.

Qualifications and experience
Essential:
- Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety - AUSTSWIM, Swim Australia, Royal Life Saving or similar standard
- Current CPR Certificate
- Excellent oral communication
- Excellent customer service
- Current Working with Children Check.
Desirable:
- Current First Aid
- Pool Lifeguard Award or similar standard
- Oxygen Equipment Certificate
- Coaching/teaching experience
- Teacher extension courses including infant and preschool, adults, access and inclusion and competitive strokes
- Current class C driver’s licence
- Knowledge of applicable legislation/regulations.
Remuneration and benefits
The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Blacktown City Council’s Enterprise Agreement.
- Entry level for this role starts at $29.2716 per hour plus 25% casual loading
- Penalty rates apply for weekend shifts
