As the governing body for Golf in Australia, our key responsibilities are to encourage participation across the sport whilst supporting the health of all places to play around the country. Working alongside key industry partners such as the PGA of Australia and the WPGA Tour, Golf Australia helps provide player pathways through events at club and state level, through to the ISPS HANDA Australian Open. In addition, we support the high-performance program developing talent through to the professional stage.
About the Role:
The primary purpose of the role is to lead the delivery of nationally developed Clubs and Facilities programs and services within Victorian and Tasmania. By improving the health of existing golf facilities, this role plays a critical part in the state and national growth agenda to inspire more people to participate in all formats of golf across both Victoria and Tasmania.
The Clubs and Facilities Manager will lead and provide direct support to metropolitan and regional clubs and facilities. The position will also work closely with Golf Australia’s Participation team to grow participation in the state.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
The duties of the Clubs and Facilities Manager (VIC/TAS) include, but are not limited to the following:
Clubs and Facilities Development
- Maintaining strong relationships with Affiliated Golf Clubs, District Associations and other golfing clubs and facilities to ensure they are being engaged and serviced effectively and to a high standard;
- Improve the health of clubs and facilities through the delivery of several initiatives including strategic planning, governance and financial analysis in line with the Australian Golf Strategy 2022-25 framework.
- Working with all stakeholders to ensure a strong and positive culture amongst the clubs and facilities across both states, and achieve deep levels of engagement aligned with the values of Australian Golf;
- Working with the GA Government Relations team including the GA Local Government Manager and GA Venue Development Manager to maintain foster good relationships at state and local government level and to deliver on venue development opportunities;
- Managing existing partnerships and develop new partnerships with key organisations that intersect with clubs and facilities, including Community Clubs Victoria and club management organisations to support the ongoing growth of the game;
- Representing Golf Victoria and Golf Tasmania at key community activities and key events as required and where appropriate.
Grow Participation and Drive Development
- Working with the Participation Team, and particularly each Relationship Officer, to collaborate on opportunities to increase participation and drive development at clubs and facilities;
- Actively engaging in supporting Clubs and Facilities as well as Districts and the Victorian Golf League affiliated clubs to grow golf participation through GA aligned programs.
Key Requirements
In addition, you will have:
- Minimum five (5) years working in a similar role or a role that directly engages with sporting clubs or in a business-to-business setting;
- Strong leadership, influencing, and interpersonal skills including strategic thinking, the ability to inspire and influence others;
- Understanding of best practice corporate governance structures and processes which exist in sporting clubs;
- Thorough understanding of Australian Club & Facility support landscape;
- Ability to prioritise a high workload and juggle competing demands;
- Excellent administrative, organisational and IT skills;
- Ability to create an environment which makes work colleagues and volunteers alike feel valued as part of Australian Golf;
- A passion for and understanding of the business of sport and entertainment will be highly regarded, as will an appreciation of the importance of all people involved in sport at all levels.
