Sydney Olympic Park Authority (SOPA) is looking for a skilled and experienced Pool Operations Supervisor to lead and oversee the safe and efficient operation of our premier aquatic facilities. This key role is integral to maintaining high standards of service delivery, venue presentation, and safety, ensuring that every visitor has a memorable and secure experience at Sydney Olympic Park.

As the Pool Operations Supervisor, you will be responsible for managing a dedicated team of lifeguards, implementing streamlined operational procedures, and ensuring that all operational requirements of the venue are met. Your role will include overseeing the safe use of the facilities, quickly identifying and addressing any potential risks, and ensuring customer satisfaction through effective scheduling and resource allocation. You will also provide leadership in maintaining compliance with the Centre’s Emergency Management Plan and lead the development of your team.

About the role:

  • Lead the implementation of operational systems and procedures to maintain the highest standards of service delivery, venue presentation, safety, and security.
  • Supervise the safe operation of the aquatic facilities, ensuring any issues are promptly addressed to prevent injury or illness to staff and patrons.
  • Manage daily booking and operational schedules to meet customer needs efficiently.
  • Resolve customer complaints swiftly and use feedback to drive continuous improvement in service delivery and processes.
  • Ensure all supplies and assets are properly stored, accounted for, and secured.
  • Uphold compliance with the Centre’s Emergency Management Plan, including taking on duties as the facility Chief Warden.
  • Provide strong leadership to the team, setting clear work objectives, assessing performance, and offering ongoing feedback, coaching, and development.

What you will bring to the role

  • Effective planning and coordination skills for managing events across various aquatic disciplines while maintaining leisure facility operations.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities to identify and provide timely solutions for operational incidents or issues.
  • Excellent risk and safety management skills to ensure the safety of patrons, clients, and tenants.
  • Ability to supervise and develop a team, providing clear performance standards and constructive feedback.
  • Strong communication skills to engage with internal and external stakeholders effectively.
  • Proficiency in using technology to maximize efficiencies and effectiveness in operations.
  • Commitment to delivering high-quality customer-focused services and continuous improvement.

Essential requirement

  • Experience in swimming pool supervision and pool operations
  • Aquatic Technical Operator certificate (SISSS00131) or equivalent (must be willing to obtain within 6 months of employment)
  • Current - Pool Lifeguard qualifications recognised in NSW (SISSS00133)
  • Provide First Aid (HLTAID 011)
  • Provide CPR (HLTAID009)
  • A Working with Children Check (WWCC) is an essential requirement for this role
