Water Polo WA is seeking a talented and experienced Sport Science professional to educate and support performance coaches on a contract basis. This is an exciting opportunity to provide coaching support services to our elite water polo programs and share your expertise in sport science to help our coaches reach new heights of performance. 

What you'll be doing

• Collaborate with the head coach and assistant coaches to develop three-month service agreement for sport science coach education for our elite water polo team coaches
• Provide expert advice and support on nutrition, strength and conditioning, and recovery strategies to optimise player performance
• Where agreed, monitor player health, fitness and wellbeing, and recommend tailored interventions to prevent injury and aid recovery
• Where agreed, analyse performance data and video footage to identify areas for improvement and inform coaching decisions
• Deliver specialised training and education sessions on agreed sport science related topics 
• Document and report on coach progress and the effectiveness of support services
• Support the organisation and delivery of training and competitions

What we're looking for

• Tertiary qualifications in sport science, exercise physiology, or a related discipline
• Minimum 3 years' experience working as a sport scientist, preferably in an elite team sport environment
• Proven track record of improving athlete performance through the delivery of evidence-based sport science services
• Experienced coach educator/facilitator 
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with coaches, athletes and support staff
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to interpret performance data and make informed recommendations
• Passion for water polo and a deep understanding of the technical and tactical demands of the sport
• Flexibility to work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends, to support training and competition schedules
