As the governing body for Golf in Australia, our key responsibilities are to encourage participation across the sport whilst supporting the health of all places to play around the country. Working alongside key industry partners such as the PGA of Australia and the WPGA Tour, Golf Australia helps provide player pathways through the events at club and state level, through to the Australian Open. In addition, we support the high-performance program developing talent through to the professional stage.

About the role:

The High Performance - Director of Pathways is responsible for leading and optimising the High-Performance Pathway for Australian Golf, supporting both amateur and professional athletes. The role focuses on developing and implementing high-level support systems and structures to create a consistent elite pathway for amateur athletes to progress to top 100 rankings, major championships, and Olympic champions.

This role will be responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing a comprehensive talent development and high-performance pathway for aspiring athletes with a greater focus on athletes aged 12-16 and based in the U.S Collegiate pathway. Ensuring the identification, nurturing, and progression of athletes from grassroots to the high-performance pathway. The director will work collaboratively with coaches, athletes, support staff, and stakeholders to create a seamless, effective, and sustainable high-performance system.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

Reporting to the General Manager, High Performance, the Director of Pathways will have the following core responsibilities:

Pathway Development and Leadership

  • Integrate and oversee current pathway programs for Australian Golf
  • Lead the delivery of National & State Camps
  • Design and implement comprehensive talent identification and development systems
  • Manage athlete selection for programs, professional and amateur events and Australian Representation
  • Case Manage state high-performance programs in Tasmania, Western Australia, and South Australia

Program Management

  • Manage & deliver coach education plans and frameworks
  • Manage & deliver parent education initiatives and frameworks
  • Manage & Support USA college based Australian golfers
  • Oversee the Annual Interstate Series tournament
  • Manage and deliver National Camps
  • Manage pathway program budgets and operations

Stakeholder Management

  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders including athletes, personal coaches, PGA, WPGA, high school golf programs, and support staff
  • Foster strong Tour and Management relationships
  • Contribute to High Performance leadership team meetings
  • Coordinate regular High-Performance Manager & Team meetings

Performance Support

  • Attend national and international championships to support Australian athletes
  • Facilitate access to world-class coaching and sports science support
  • Monitor athlete progress and provide development feedback
  • Ensure resource availability aligns with operational requirements

What we are looking for:

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Extensive experience (5+ years) in talent identification, long-term athlete development, coaching, or high-performance sports environments
  • Proven track record in managing performance pathways and delivering transformational impact
  • Strong understanding of athlete development principles
  • Excellence in stakeholder management and communication
  • Sound knowledge of national and international athlete pathways
  • Understanding of the Australian Golf stakeholder network
  • Bachelor's degree in Sports Science, Sports Management, Sports Leadership/Coaching, or related field (desirable but not essential)
  • Availability to travel nationally and internationally for 6-8 weeks annually
