MLC School is looking for a passionate and experienced Head of Program – Rowing who will educate and inspire young women to be fearless thinkers with moral courage and compassion to be agents of change in their own lives and in the lives of others.
As the Head of Program your role will be to manage and coordinate the rowing program at MLC School. The role will include some weekend work (for Regattas).

About the position
The MLC School Head of Program – Rowing will work closely with the Director of Sport to manage and promote the overall development and implementation of the MLC School Rowing Program.
This position is responsible for leading the development and mentoring coaching staff; establishing and coordinating the entire crew selection process; strategically planning the maintenance and replacement of assets; and serving as an ambassador to MLC School Parents Rowing Committee.
This position works in collaboration within the Sports Department to facilitate learning within a collaborative environment to cultivate in students learning dispositions of curiosity, collaboration, open-mindedness, accountability, empathy and self-awareness.
Selection Criteria:
You will be able to demonstrate your ability and commitment to:
- deliver technically appropriate sessions that run on time and involve all participants,
- lead, train, and mentor staff,
- always demonstrate a positive role model and support participants to achieve outstanding results,
- be flexible about when you work to reasonably perform your duties as required by the School.
- attend various regattas, carnivals, and functions on weekends, evenings and outside traditional hours,
- deliver service excellence to parents and carers by proactively engaging with and responding promptly and courteously to enquiries and requests for information,
- contribute to the ‘whole girl’ learning experience through your contribution to co-curricular and clubs programs,
- ongoing personal and professional development,
- experienced coaching para athletes,
- drive school transport to and from Rowing training and events as required,
- liaise with the Rowing Parents Support Group and attend meetings,
- co-ordinate fund raising activities
- act as a mentor to junior staff, and
- involvement and coordination of club-based events.
Qualifications and Experience:
Mandatory:
- Level 2 Coaching Accreditation
- Boating Licence
- Light Rigid Drivers Licence
- Experience managing a rowing team
- Current First Aid and CPR Certificate
- NSW Working with Children Check
- Experienced in boat maintenance and repairs including hull damage,
- Experienced in towing rowing boat trailers,
- Be available and willing to do some out of hours work, including weekend and public holiday work.
