About the role
An exciting opportunity within the newly formed NSWIS Para Unit exists for a Strength and Conditioning Practitioner to be responsible for taking a lead on the design, implementation and delivery of world class strength and conditioning programs across multiple sports aimed at maximising the pipeline of future Paralympic Athletes. The NSWIS Para Unit will be run in collaboration with a wide range of Para sports and include para athletes from a pre-elite to categorised level.
We are seeking applications for either a Senior Strength and Conditioning Practitioner or a Strength and Conditioning Practitioner.
The role will be responsible for delivering technical expertise, services and support to athletes and coaches as part of the interdisciplinary NSWIS Para Unit and will collaborate closely with other key internal and external stakeholders to identify and develop performance outcomes for NSWIS Para Unit athletes.
This is a full-time position attracting a salary range in line with NSWIS Grade 3, Level 1 to Level 2, plus superannuation. The salary will be negotiable based upon the successful candidate’s experience, demonstrated capabilities and competencies.
The contract period for this role is up to 30 June 2027.

About you
You will have:
- Minimum 3-5 years full time experience in successful strength and conditioning program design and practical implementation for elite level athletes
- Proven success working collaboratively as part of a high performing team/ organisation with coaches, athletes, and other service providers across multiple sports
- Demonstrated record of providing leadership in the field of strength and conditioning to achieve high personal and team performance, and meet organisational and strategic objectives
- Experience developing and supervising staff/interns to achieve performance outcomes
- Proven ability to analyse, interpret, summarise, and communicate relevant data/results including strength and conditioning reports to athletes and coaches for improved performance and influencing athletic training programs
- Highly competent in applying the principals of long-term athletic development in programming and planning including highly competent in a practical setting to coach individual and groups of athletes
- Highly developed communication skills (including interpersonal, negotiation, influencing and representation) and a proven ability to build and maintain effective relationships both internally and externally with a diverse range of stakeholders
- Intermediate/Advanced knowledge of MS Office and other sports specific computer programs (Vald Performance, Bridge Athletic & Smartabase desirable)
Essential Requirements for a Practitioner:
- 3-5+ years fulltime experience in conditioning and physical preparation program design and practical implementation for high performance athletes
- Honours or Master’s degree in Exercise, Health, Sport Science or related field specialising in the area of Physical Development
- ASCA Level 2 or international equivalent
- ASCA PCAS Pro or international equivalent
- Sport Integrity Australia - Anti-Doping Fundamentals and annual update.
- First Aid and CPR certificate
- Working with Children Check (WWCC)
- Valid driver’s licence
Essential Requirements for a Senior Practitioner:
In addition to the above requirements, the Senior Practitioner will have:
- Extensive track record of success in Strength and Conditioning program design and practical implementation for elite athletes
- 6+ years, fulltime experience in the provision and application of strength and conditioning support and proven experience interacting with high performance coaches and athletes
- 2+ years demonstrated experience in the management and/or supervision of staff
